Kähler Gingerbread is a series of modern gingerbread houses and ornaments from Kähler, where the combination of a charming expression and handcrafted design traditions meets the warmth of candlelight and classic Christmas traditions, creating both style and cosiness. Baking is an essential part of Christmas, and with its lifelike appearance, it's easy to imagine that Kähler has just taken a freshly baked gingerbread out of the ceramic kiln. You can almost smell it, but don't be fooled – the entire Gingerbread series is made of stoneware, and the white glaze is ceramic. The Kähler Gingerbread Advent candle holder measures 7.5 cm in height and consists of four small mini candle houses for taper candles, which, with intricate patterns and snow on the roof, perfectly complement the larger Gingerbread candle houses. Each house is adorned as a traditional Advent candle holder with hand-drawn numbers from 1 to 4. And if you prefer numbering expressed as a decorative pattern, you have the option to turn them around and let each Sunday in Advent be illustrated with the finest snowflakes – just as you would decorate a gingerbread house. Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becker are the designers behind Kähler Gingerbread, and their design is characterised by the meeting of the stringent and the authentic. The geometric surfaces of the candle houses are softened by the intricate decorations and the many windows and doors, all – large and small – hand-cut, giving the candle houses a natural and cosy expression. Similarly, the Advent candle holder is simple and graphic but full of life and authenticity due to the decorations and the handcrafted expression.
