Wool Care

How to keep your wool products beautiful and soft

Wool is a natural luxury fibre with unique properties - thermal insulation, self-cleaning and breathability. Whether you have sheep's wool, cashmere, alpaca, merino or angora products, there are general guidelines for washing and care to ensure your wool garments stay beautiful season after season.

Should wool even be washed?

Before you throw your wool product in the washing machine, you should consider whether it's really necessary. Wool is naturally self-cleaning - a chemical process in the fibres breaks down sweat and odour, so many wool products can simply be aired in fresh air. Hang them out on the balcony, in the shade, and let nature do the work.

When washing is necessary - do it right

If washing is required, follow these simple but important tips:

  • Use a wool or gentle cycle at max. 30°C
  • Choose a special wool detergent without enzymes or bleach
  • Avoid heavy spinning - it wears down the fibres unnecessarily
  • Always read the washing instructions on the product - especially for delicate types like cashmere and angora

How to dry wool without damaging it

After washing, dry wool with care. Do not use clips as they can pull the fibres and leave marks. Instead, you should:

  • Dry wool flat on a towel or drying rack
  • Avoid direct sunlight - it breaks down the fibres and can cause yellowing
  • If you hang wool, use a wide hanger to maintain its shape

Is your wool product fluffing? How to gently remove it

Linting is a natural process, especially in the beginning, but it can be handled gently: Avoid aggressive lint removers and razors - they wear down the fibres and can make the problem worse in the long run. Instead, use your hands to gently peel off the lint, or a gentle wool comb if necessary.
